HomeThe Lifekeeper Memory QuiltMark Barry Ellis

Mark Barry Ellis

Born 25 January 1972, died 27 February 2008

Mark was always an inquisitive person. As a child he took every toy he had apart because he wanted to know just how it worked! He always seemed to know though how to put it back together without any problems. And this stayed with him through his adult life too.

He loved ice-cream, especially chocolate, but always put it in the microwave to melt before eating it! He also loved my homemade caramel slices.

In his early teens he wanted to be a pilot but sadly never realized this dream. I think he would have made an excellent one.

His passion from his late teen years was always cars – he was a real petrolhead and was absolutely passionate about Chrysler Chargers. He belonged to the Victorian Charger Car Club and always enjoyed racing on club days at Winton racetrack. He fixed his friends’ cars from quite young and was always on hand to find car parts or give advice to people overseas via the internet. Once he dashed off to Adelaide at a moment’s notice because a part he wanted was there. So he drove his friend all the way there, picked up the part, slept in the car then drove home. He was always there for other people.

His other big love was animals, especially dogs and cats, and they loved him back equally.

We knew for some time that Mark had “demons” but sadly he would never get any help. His depression took over his life in many ways but I’m glad he’s now at peace.

The wording under his quilt photo refers to “racing around the Mopar galaxy”. Mopar (short for MOtor PARts) is the automotive parts and service arm of Chrysler. Mopar is now used as a term among car enthusiasts which refers to Chrysler cars.

I’m sure Mark is still driving his favourite Charger cars, just in another dimension.

Travel well, Mark darling – until we meet again.
Love from us all
your loving Family
